Proofpoint ZenWeb Deployment and Installation

This topic describes the installation and deployment options for Proofpoint ZenWeb for Windows and Mac. Because the extension enhances the agent’s capabilities, the agent must be installed and active on the endpoint to utilize these features.

Support for Windows from 3.6.0 and support for Mac is available from 4.2.0.

The Agent must be installed. Without it, ZenWeb will not be active.

Proofpoint ZenWeb and Mass Deployment Method Tools

Proofpoint ZenWeb extension should be deployed using Mass Deployment Method (MDM) tools but can also be installed on a single endpoint for testing purposes. Deploying via MDM allows you to enforce installation and prevent users from disabling or uninstalling the extension (force install).

Installing Proofpoint ZenWeb Extension on Web Browsers on a Single Endpoint for Windows

This describes how to install the Proofpoint ZenWeb on a single endpoint.

Do the following to install:

1. Install the Agent 3.6 or higher

2. Close the browser.

3. Open the browser and Link to download to browse to the Proofpoint ZenWeb install page on Chrome Web Store.

4. Add the extension to the browser according to the relevant browser process.

   Optionally, you can add the icon to your Chrome address bar.

Before installing the Agent, make sure your Proofpoint ZenWeb(Chrome/ Edge or Firefox) is installed.

Installing Proofpoint ZenWeb on an Endpoint for Mac

Do the following to install for Chrome/Edge support:

1. Make sure the browser is installed.

2. Install the Mac Agent 4.2 or higher 

3. Open Chrome and Link to download to open Proofpoint ZenWeb install page on Chrome Web Store.

4. Add the extension to the browser according to the relevant browser process.

Do the following to install for Firefox support:

1. Make sure Firefox is installed.

2. Download Agent 4.2 or higher from Proofpoint Admin app > Endpoints > Downloads.

3. From the firefox area, download proofpoint_bowser_extension_firefox.xpi

4. Copy proofpoint_bowser_extension_firefox.xpi to Firefox Manage Your Extensions.

5. A pop-up displays with the permissions. Click Add.

6. Proofpoint ZenWeb is enabled.
