There are two ways to onboard an on-premises account:
- Onboarding without using any sidecar. See On-Premises Containerized Scanner.
- Onboarding using AWS or Azure account as sidecar. See On-Premises Cloud Sidecar Scanner.
When using AWS or Azure as a sidecar for on-premises accounts, the scanner resources are created on the selected cloud account which then connects to the on-premises data store host and runs the Data Scan operation. This mechanism gives more flexibility and efficiency for the scan operation to complete its tasks. Also, it eliminates the need to run the Docker related operations, making the administration work much more easier.
