Monetary Value

How can data be valued?

The financial impact that an event such as data loss, breach, or unauthorized access to your resources would have on your organization is how we measure the Monetary value of your data.

Values for each sensitive Data Classification tag are shown in the Monetary Value section of DSPM.

The value assigned to each of the tags listed under this section is based on actual instances of data losses and the respective monetary penalties incurred for it based on accepted industry standards

Here’s how we calculate it:

Multiply the number of occurrences of each type of sensitive data detected in each data store by the assigned value in the Monetary Value table.

For example: each instance of PII is assigned $210 as the value, so if a data store is detected to have 10 occurrences of PII data, the total Monetary Value for it will be $210 * 10 = $2000.
